THE PALADINS at the Austin Speed Shop

Posted by: Austin Speed Shop on 03/18/2010

THIS JUST IN:  during our favorite weekend of the year, the Texas Lone Star Roundup weekend, one of our favorite bands, The Paladins are headlining the Austin Speed Shop party Saturday night, April 10th 2010.  A HUGE thanks to our friends at Fender Guitars & Gretsch Guitars for helping to make this happen. We will post details here as soon as we have them.  Please don’t call the shop for information, we don’t have the details finalized yet.  We’re really looking forward to this!  Stay tuned…….

1960 Cadillac

Posted by: Austin Speed Shop on 03/16/2010

This 1960 Cadillac has lead an interesting life.  It was the car in the 2003 Robert Duvall & Michael Caine movie Second Hand Lions. It came to the Austin Speed Shop for an upholstery job, but once it arrived the owner decided to go ahead and redo the car.  Air-ride Technologies suspension, rebuild the factory 390 motor, add a 700R4 overdrive transmission, hand-built Cadillac wire wheels, fresh Firestone white walls, shave the door handles, shave some trim, a fresh paint job, a few tasteful custom touches and an Austin Speed Shop upholstery job were the main things on the list.  We recently got it back from the paint shop and it looks GREAT!  We can’t wait to get this one back on the road.

Badmotorfinger

Posted by: Austin Speed Shop on 02/16/2010

For those that haven’t seen previous posts, we’re building a Lincoln Cosmopolitan for Matt Cameron.  Matt is the drummer for Pearl Jam and was the drummer of Soundgarden.  Matt wanted a way to personalize his car a little bit without going for an over the top cheesy theme.  He sent over the saw blade logo from Soundgardern’s Badmotorfinger album…..perfect.  Our friend Darrin was in town and painted it on the dash….freehand!

Check it out……

Greg G. Photography

Our friend Greg brought his beautiful 51 Mercury Truck to the shop recently for a few repairs and a few upgrades including a brand new set of Porter Mufflers.  Greg does some beautiful custom leather work, and has recently started doing photography professionally.  While he was at the shop he snapped a few pictures. This was a crazy day in the shop.  We were all working, there was a major freeze and we were dealing with busted water pipes.  In the midst of all the chaos, Greg snapped some pics that remind us how lucky we are to do what we do.  Make sure to click the link and see them all.  Enjoy!
