John Joyo
John was born and raised in Austin, TX. He runs the shop, leads the crew, and helps dream up the automotive creations. If you are interested in doing business with the shop, he is the man to talk to.
Sean “Fat Lucky” Johnstun

Bob “Bleed” Merkt
Bob is a hot rod builder, fabricator, artist, and creator. Bob wants to build you a hot rod.
Dave Janssen
Born and raised in rural Iowa, he moved to Austin in ‘04 to pursue a career in custom motorcycles. Dave previously had a lot of general automotive and agricultural mechanical experience which made it easy for him to pursue his dream of building traditional hot-rods and custom cars. Dave is excellent at electronics, wiring, stereo, and also does a fair amount of general fabrication and general mechanics. He is putting the finishing touches on a couple of motorcycle projects and is also beginning his Model A coupe project that will be his daily driver.
Todd Gravelle
Todd picked up his first welder at age 12 to lend a hand working on his family’s race car and has been fabricating in some form or another ever since. He is one of the original Salinas Boyz and his work emphasizes the clean, pure style of high quality customs. Todd brings his unique vision and attention to detail from the West Coast to the 3rd Coast.
Chris Gee
Chris is an Austin native and is one of the original mechanics at the Austin Speed Shop. He is a Wyotec graduate, is currently working on a 1951 Mercury coupe and putting himself through college.
Mark Ford
Mark Ford grew up in “Git er Dun” Oklahoma. He’s been in Austin since 1995 touring the world with his band, bartending, and honing his skills as a welder. He grew up around motorcycles, but has been into cars for years. Mark recently built arguably the meanest Model A coupe in Austin.
