Woody in Texas
By Austin Speed Shop | November 20, 2008

You don’t see many Woodies cruising the streets of Austin, Texas. I never even saw one till my first trip to California years ago. Woodies are a really neat piece of automotive history and an icon representing one of the coolest subcultures of the last Century; Surfing.
Our pal Neal just had a ‘41 Ford Woody shipped to us from California. It’s a neat old car that has been updated a bit without losing its classic cool. It’s got ‘74 Jaguar suspension, a smooth running small block Chevy motor, and some fresh wood. We added a Vintage Air system, some fresh carpet, a new stereo, and got everything working and running as it should. This would be the perfect wagon to cruise down to the Texas Coast with a couple of Long Boards, tent, and a fishing pole…..maybe even cruise through Corpus Christi and stop into the Texas Surf Museum to pay homage.
